BRANDON CARR PRESENTED POP WARNER NATIONAL “INSPIRATION TO YOUTH AWARD”

Flint native and Ravens defensive back Brandon Carr earned the national “Inspiration to Youth Award” on Saturday, May 25th at the 59th Pop Warner Little Scholar All-American Scholars Banquet. Pop Warner Little Scholars, the nation’s oldest youth football, cheer and dance organization and the only one with established academic standards, honored thousands of young student-athletes from around the country who earned a 96% GPA or higher and were named Pop Warner All-American Scholars during the event at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront.

The Inspiration to Youth award is presented to an individual who has inspired the youth of today to become great achievers of tomorrow. After graduating from Grand Valley State, Carr played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys before joining the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. In addition to his football achievements, Carr is also dedicated to leaving a legacy off the field. In 2012, he founded the Carr Cares Foundation, which aims to improve child literacy and encourage children to live healthy lifestyles. Carr has also opened three reading centers in his hometown of Flint, MI and volunteers both time and money in the Dallas and Baltimore communities. Those initiatives include reading and mentoring programs, providing food and toys to families for the holidays, hosting an annual football camp, donating books and even acting as principal for a day at a local Baltimore elementary school.
